Eidetic Seeing - Eidetic Seeing [2011]

Eidetic Seeing are serious about psyching you out. Eidetic Seeing is a record that draws you near with its opening spacey drone and sucks you into a vortex, blowing some serious mind chunks in the process, leaving the mind and the body discombobulated on separate planes... Eidetic Seeing don't fuck around; the record was recorded live in one take, so there is no studio trickery involved... reminiscent of Sabbath's first record abounds throughout.. this is heavy stuff, not for the weak at heart... Eidetic Seeing is not meant to be taken song for song, but to be listened to from beginning to end. Strap in, psych out, and leave no mind behind!

Interkosmos - Interkosmos [2009]

Interkosmos are another Sula Bassana side project which formed in early 2008. According to the band name they call themselves the new intergalactic psychedelic space jam band. Interestingly two differing line-ups were appointed. Drummer Bernhard Fasching and Dave Schmidt (bass, guitar, electronics), better known as Sula Bassana, are the core members. The Austrian crew comprises Sam Greil and Andi Hofer where the 'international' ensemble includes talented Spanish space guitar caballero Sergio Ceballos.

The project have produced one eponymous album in 2009 which is full of spacey improviations headed by Ceballos' fantastic guitar work. Highly recommended!

Weird Owl - Build Your Beast A Fire [2011]

Weird Owl’s Build Your Beast a Fire, finds the New York City five-piece in a similarly altered state of mind as its 2009 debut, Ever the Silver Cord Be Loose, but the band has taken a decidedly different path to get there. With a focus on tighter songwriting and arranging, BYBAF boasts a much more concise and melodic approach to the band’s signature take on the inner-to-outer-space psychedelic continuum. The acid-tinged mysticism of the 13th Floor Elevators that was once channeled through the ragged stomp of Crazy Horse is now given life through a voice closer to the odd clarity of mid-era Pink Floyd mixed with the synthesized textures of The Flaming Lips.

Causa Sui - Pewt'r Sessions 2 [2011]

Fuck me, this is the absolute ult in amphetamine power drives, an album of sheer exhilarating post-Krautrock, postpsychedelic, hell, brothers’n’sisters, post-everything. Imagine Ash Ra Tempel’s ‘Flowers Must Die’ or perhaps seite 4 of Amon Duul 2’s YETI and yooz somewhat approaching these guys’ pleasure zones. But even those hefty comparisons is doing these gentlemen dudes a disservice because this music really don’t sound like nothing else I’ve be-hear-oled in many a long year....Wonderful stuff and absolutely free fucking rock!

The Company Corvette - End Of The Summers [2011]

This three-piece has been rocking out and about the Philadelphia area for over 4 years, delivering heavy rock that is blues-based, with a healthy dose of psychedelia and a metallic punch. The Company Corvette brings high-energy, riff-driven grooves mixed with laid back vocals and blistering, wah-wah drenched guitar action. Recomended!

Litmus – Aurora [2009]

Following in the footsteps of their idols Hawkwind, Litmus deliver the space rock goods in the old school way, and to excess. We’re talking extended jam sessions, cosmic vocal meanderings and blistering lead breaks to beat the band. Conjuring the long forgotten krautrock spirits of Can and Neu! into the mix, resulting in a spiraling, expansive listen which should appeal severely to any and all fans of psychedelia. I only wonder where the band can possibly go from here, because as it stands now, Litmus are simply at the top of their game.
